MOHAMMAD HOTAK – Patron & Chair

Mohammad Hotak is a doctor turned entrepreneur and social leader . He is a strong tri-sector leader with extensive experience in the public, private and nongovernmental sectors. Dr Hotak is the founder and board member of Hotak Healthcare, Invest In Great Britain, British Afghan Chamber of Commerce, Afghan Council of Great Britain and Afghan Business Association UK. He is a young British Afghan leader on a mission to put the identity and contributions of Afghan diaspora on the map of the world.

Dr Hotak is a renowned speaker on Afghanistan, Asia and entrepreneurship chairing global conferences on these topics. He has appeared on BBC, Al Jazeera, Russia Today, Islam Channel, Voice of America, Tolo, Ariana and Foreign Policy Magazine.

Dr Hotak holds an MBChB in Medicine from Leeds Medical School and certificates in International Organisation Management, Globalisation and Leadership.

At the World Afghan Congress, he chairs the organisation’s strategy and governance board.

MARYAM ATMAR – co-Chair

Ms Atmar comes from a strong background in investment management, investment management, entrepreneurship and philanthropy. Having worked for Bank of America and Wells Fargo, she has extensive experience in real estate, stocks, bonds and investment funds management.

Ms Atmar is currently the CEO of global consulting firm MAIH Group, board member at the Afghanistan Investment Fund, British Afghan Chamber of Commerce, Euro Afghan Chamber of Commerce, and Afghana Foundation.

She has a BA in Psychology from George Mason University and accredited professional qualifications in accounting and banking management from American Institute of Banking  Investors, and she fluently speaks four languages.

As a founding leader of the World Afghan Congress, she leads North America strategy, women affairs and the economic committee.

SPECIAL COMMITTEES

WOMEN AFFAIRS COMMITTEE

The women affairs committee is tasked with putting issues that affect Afghan women at the heart of the congress, ensuring gender equality, balanced representation and leadership.

ART & CULTURE COMMITTEE

The art and culture committee is dedicated to preserving the art, design and cultural heritage of Afghanistan, and promoting it on the world stage to highlight its contributions to modern civilisation.

HEALTH COMMITTEE

The health committee is tasked with ensuring the health issues of the Afghan people are identified and dealt with accordingly.

ECONOMIC AFFAIRS COMMITTEE

The economic affairs committee is tasked with bringing the Afghan business community of the world together to trade, invest and do business with each other, and the world.

SPORTS COMMITTEE

The sports committee is tasked with bringing Afghan sportsmen together to inspire our future generations, promoting their talents and ensuring their involvement in congress affairs.

LEGAL AFFAIRS COMMITTEE

The legal affairs committee is responsible for advising the congress on legal issues of the organisation and its members.

POLITICAL & DIPLOMATIC AFFAIRS COMMITTEE

The diplomatic affairs committee is responsible for political and diplomatic relations of the congress with United Nations, European Union, Organisation of Islamic Cooperation and other nations.

EDUCATION COMMITTEE

The education committee is tasked with bringing Afghan intellectuals and educationalists together to ensure our people are driven by art, science and technology not dogmas.

PUBLIC RELATIONS COMMITTEE

The public relations committee is responsible for building, protecting and promoting the reputations of the Afghan people.

YOUTH & STUDENTS COMMITTEE

The youth and students committee is responsible for advising the congress on on issues affecting our youth, their development and access to opportunities.
